Judah Casket

Earth, Tradition, and Quiet Elegance

The Judah casket offers a tangible, eternal connection to the earth of ancient Jerusalem. An earth panel forms the casket’s interior floor, allowing the deceased, wrapped in traditional burial shrouds, to rest directly upon this sacred earth, without an intervening mattress or wooden floor. This physical connection begins the moment the deceased is placed within the casket.

The casket’s panels are crafted from authentic archaeological earth from the City of David excavations in Jerusalem, blended with natural desert earth in light golden tones and natural binders. This blend creates distinctive, rich earth tones, lending the casket a quiet elegance that echoes Jewish burial traditions. A raised Star of David, crafted from the same earth blend, adorns the lid.

An open internal frame supports the earth panels and is assembled without nails, screws, or metal components. Two removable, hinge-free lid panels provide access to the interior.

A thin cotton lining covers the interior walls.

Solid wood carrying poles extend from an integrated support platform. This distinctive way of carrying the casket evokes the biblical world, echoing the ancient origins of the earth from which it is crafted.

The Judah casket brings together tradition, quiet elegance, and a tangible connection to the Land of Israel, wherever the final resting place may be.
