This is the birthplace of Jerusalem, the site of its first foundations. Today, it remains one of the world’s most significant active archaeological excavations, reaching deep into the bedrock of the First and Second Temple periods.
To hold this earth is to touch the very foundation of the biblical story.
But beneath the ridge of the City of David lies the true origin. Through our exclusive partnership with the archaeological teams on the ground, we have been granted a rare stewardship: access to the "Destruction Layer."
Authorized Stewardship
Entrusted with this sacred material, HOLY EARTH works in exclusive collaboration with the City of David Foundation.
The earth is sourced from authenticated archaeological strata and carefully processed through the Sifting Facility at Tzurim Valley National Park, where it is examined grain by grain and separated from historical fragments.
This is not surface soil, but ancient earth, material that formed the ground upon which history unfolded.
Before the Earth is Sealed Forever
This connection is inherently limited. The earth we work with originates from a defined archaeological layer a specific moment in time that, once cleared, can never be replaced.
As excavation progresses, the gates to this earth will be closed and access to this specific material will come to an end. What remains will be preserved and sealed forever.
Each vessel therefore represents a finite link to a singular chapter in the history of Jerusalem.
The Art of Preservation
Each vessel is accompanied by a documented chain of custody, tracing the material from excavation to formation.
Supported by the Israel Innovation Authority, our process preserves the earth in its natural composition while giving it enduring form.
Nothing is altered beyond what is necessary to hold its shape. The material remains true to its origin.
